Krista believes that American landscape architect Thomas Church got it right when he said, “Gardens are for people.” Krista’s passion for gardening and outdoor design began as a diversion from her legal career and, ten years later, grew into a serious and rewarding professional endeavor.
Although Krista now designs exclusively, she gained invaluable experience in how to create successful, high quality garden spaces by having her own installation and maintenance company for five years. Krista has received national attention by winning HGTV’s Landscaper’s Challenge and she has won several local awards such as twice winning the Mission Hills Garden Club’s Green Thumb award (2003 and 2005), and becoming a finalist in San Diego County’s California Friendly Landscape Contest 2008. Also, her gardens have twice been featured in the Mission Hills’ honored Garden Tour.
Krista approaches design by getting to know what enriches the lives of her clients. She draws on this inspiration to create an experience that reconnects her clients to their gardens. Krista finds inspiration in people, architecture, art, and nature. Krista has studied landscape design in California, England and in South Africa and is an affiliated member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
Krista’s pro bono work includes two gardens she designed for La Jolla Elementary School. She also gardens as a community volunteer at Quail Botanical Gardens. Krista dreams of a day when she has more time to spend in her own garden.
